Bulava Delivers 5 Laryngoscopes to Hospitals in Odesa and Mykolaiv

A laryngoscope is used when someone has trouble breathing or swallowing. For example, suppose someone cannot breathe. In that case, Laryngoscope guides the doctor in placing a tube down the windpipe (into the trachea) so that the lungs can be manually or mechanically inflated, providing an alternative to natural breathing. Such tubes are used in surgeries, critical care units, and Emergency rooms. The doctor uses a laryngoscope to push the tongue down and lift up the epiglottis. Epiglottis is the cartilage flap that covers the windpipe. When we breathe, it opens, and when we swallow, it closes.

This item is requested as many soldiers are wounded during the war in Ukraine and need immediate intervention such as surgery or mechanical lung ventilation. Without this tool, placing the breathing tube (intubate) accurately without traumatizing vocal cords is challenging. In addition, intubation can help save lives when someone cannot breathe on their own.

Bulava bought, shipped, and delivered 5 laryngoscopes that are currently used by hospitals in Odesa and Mykolaiv, as well as medics along the front lines. Without our donors’ support, we would not have been able to provide such life-saving supplies to Ukrainian people.
